We
received this from Dan Murphy who with his spouse Lynn took our docking class in
August 2007:
Lynn & I took a
private docking class in August. We finished our charter October 1-5 in the
upper bay. Thanks for your help and instruction. I would have been
"lost" without your instruction and the docking class. We chartered a
Catalina 350. Beautiful weather, no real wind during the week but still a
beautiful week. Had to warp for all our docking, again I would not have been
able to do this without your introduction to this. In a tight marina space for
docking mid week, tried 2 times port side to, then just warped the boat into the
slip. Returning to charter dock - had to warp even if I didn't want to - no
space, and this is what the charterer said we would have to do. It all worked
"great". No stress (relatively) while warping, still sweating a lot.
Just held my line and told Lynn what to do.
Beautiful anchorages, did drag on the second night (as per your recommendation -
waited 20 minutes and Lynn called it!). Did go swimming one night. We spent 3 of
4 nights out at anchorage - really good charter for us. Still have lots to learn
and lots of experience to gain, but your instruction really HELPED OUT. Thank
you for helping us out! I will consider taking an added docking class just to
continue to gain experience.
