    Introduction
Last year we conducted two Mystic advanced coastal training cruises using an Island Packet 350 and they were a great success; see the report links above.

In 2000, we'll conduct three Mystic cruises using an Island Packet 45 sailing yacht as follows:

    Cruise #1
    July 8 to 15, 2000
A 350 mile, one-way cruise from Norfolk, VA to Mystic, CT sailing by the coastal waters of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Long Island Sound.

    Cruise #2
    July 19-26, 2000
A 300 mile cruise from Mystic, CT to Nantucket Island and return,
sailing by The Race, Montauk Point, Block Island, Newport,
Buzzard's Bay, Martha's Vineyard, Noman's Land and more.

    Cruise #3
    July 28 to August 4, 2000
A 300 mile, one way cruise from Mystic, CT to Rock Hall, MD on
the Chesapeake Bay sailing by Montauk Point, Long Island, Sandy
Hook and Cape May, NJ then through Delaware Bay, the C&D
    Canal and Chesapeake Bay.

    Summary
These will be challenging, advanced cruises for experienced sailors in the near-coastal ocean, sailing around-the-clock, day and night,
with rotating watches, cat naps, a variety of weather conditions,
restricted visibility, safety harnesses, foul weather gear, ship traffic,
radio & radar contact, navigational challenges, landfall, port entry
    and much more.

Crew includes our Captain and five student crew members each with basic and intermediate sailing experience on large sailing yachts. On
Day 1, all crew members will participate in a thorough inspection of
the yacht and equipment, review heavy weather, safety and
emergency procedures and equipment, purchase food provisions,
stow gear, review navigation and watch keeping plans, and complete readiness for sea checkoffs. Departure will be on Day 2 sailing the above noted routes and completing on Day 8.

These cruises provide an advanced, hands-on learning experience
for those who are thinking or planning to do some extended,
overnight cruises. Our emphasis is on seamanship, preparation,
    teamwork and safety.

We have previously completed more than 60 Ocean Training
Cruises since 1993. Refer to Mystic Schedule & Cost for details.
