We received this feedback from Julie Bangs who took our ASA101 sailing class in July 2017 ~ The whole process from initial contact, registering for classes, receiving study materials, pre-arrival information, arrival information, emergency contact information, living aboard, theory and practical learning, and the instructors exceeded my expectations. Captain Andy Barton is probably one of the best instructors I have ever met. I am a health care professional and have had numerous instructors through out the years, but none have been so enthusiastic about passionate about what the teach than Captain Andy. He is very thorough and takes extra time to ensure a concept or skill is understood. Another instructor, "Michael Hull" audited the course with our crew on Acadame. Mike is very knowledgeable and seems to be just as enthusiastic about sailing as Captain Andy. I would recommend either as an instructor to family and friends. Rita was the first point of contact with the school. She is
very professional and responded promptly to all my emails and answered every
question I had. Her communication skills are outstanding and I was very
impressed with her attention to details. "Acadame" is a
beautiful vessel and serves her purpose well. I was very impressed with the
cleanliness, the ergonomics, and overall condition. It was great living aboard
Acadame while taking ASA 101. I am very proud to say that I am a student
of the Maryland School of Sailing and Seamanship. In my opinion, I have received
the most excellent instruction in both theory and the practical application of
sailing. I would like to thank all staff members of the Maryland School of
Sailing and Seamanship that I have had the pleasure to communicate with. This
includes Rita, Tom, Andy, Mike, and Dennis. I would like to take this
opportunity to mention how helpful Frank was at the marina.
