September 8, 2001 We are writing to thank you for a safe, enjoyable and educational trip around the Delmarva Peninsula. Sailing to the anchorage at Fishing Bay and to the marina at Salomon's Island were new experiences for Cindy and I, since we've never traveled along the lower sections of the bay. Both harbors were beautiful. The visit to Annapolis and particularly the Cajun dinner there was also pleasurable. The cruise to Chesapeake City was not particularly exciting because of the weather, but it was educational and Cindy and I got a good look at the Upper Bay and the Canal. We enjoyed the trip and the routine from Chesapeake City to Cape Henlopen, but we were eager to reach the ocean. For me the ocean leg was marvelous and memorable. The success of this trip is attributable to your skills as a Captain and your preparation of the Enchantment. At first I didn't understand the importance of the maintenance of the log but as the trip went on I learned that it was a valuable tool. We learned about living around the clock on a boat and about numerous safety procedures. Because we didn't get much wind, I didn't get much practice working and trimming the sails, but this may be a blessing in disguise since we had more time to concentrate on other sailing skills. We also benefit and learned various things from Captain Terry Griggs and fellow crewman Michael Pannone, and we enjoyed their company. We extend our thanks to both of these gentlemen. Finally, we particularly want to thank Teresa and you for the pleasure of staying in your beautiful and comfortable home. We greatly benefited from your review of the course materials and especially your knowledge of the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems on the Enchantment. Cindy and I took forward to taking another Maryland School of Sailing course with you as our instructor and captain. Sincerely yours,
