Russ Borman, who took an ASA101 course with us in October 2011, sent the following

Dear Rita,
 
Just wanted to send you a note to let you know how much I enjoyed the recent 101 class with Captain Gary Hutson.  He’s a great instructor and the Maryland School is fortunate to have him on the team.  He adapted his teaching style to each individual in the class and made the topics interesting.  As testament to his abilities as an instructor, I scored 100% on the written and skills tests.  By nature I am very analytical and curious about how and why things work, and Gary took the time to explain those aspects of sailing.  He’s extremely personable as well.  Beyond the mechanics of sailing, the 4 days were actually a lot of fun!  The 101 course at MD School was an enjoyable experience and I can’t wait to advance my sailing skills.  I just hope I’ll be lucky enough to have an instructor as good as Captain Gary.
