~ A Cut Above ~

We received this note from Ryan Graham who took ASA101 and 103 sailing classes with us in May 2016

~

Rita,

I want to thank you for the amazing experience your group of instructors gave me! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face for 8 days, and I am sure that will stay with me for some time. Even with 7 days of poor to awful weather, I loved every minute! What an amazingly nice group you and Tom have assembled. Not only are your boats in amazing condition and comfortable beyond what I had expected, but your instructors really put forth a lot of effort to make your student's experience is second to none. The learning followed the course outline for ASA but it was nice that your layout allowed focus on areas where our group or individuals needed more attention.

I had a fair amount of time sailing before arriving to the Maryland School of Sailing and Seamanship, but wanted to start learning at level 101. I am so glad that I made that decision to take 101 and not test out, because I learned more than I could imagine. My instructor for 101, Don Boccuti, rounded off my education and really dug into many things I have never considered or practiced. He is amazingly patient and has a great sense of humor. At the end of 101, I was in awe at the amount of work we had accomplished and in slight fear continuing right away with 103.

Steve Runals, my next instructor, was also a great instructor. He was a great wealth of knowledge and showed more techniques and expanded into navigation, more rescue methods, docking styles, reefing under sail and so much more. Steve is clearly a people person, had some great stories, and really kept us thinking. I can't remember a more intense yet rewarding 8 days. Thank you and your crew for an amazing set of classes, vacation, beautiful place to stay, and your staff's genuineness.

It was also a real treat to have been able to meet you and Tom. I appreciated Tom having dinner with my group and showing me Navigator just before your shake down cruise. I can't wait to get my schedule sorted to contact you about 104!
