~ A Cut Above ~

We received these comments from  Joe McArdle who took our ASA106 Delmarva Circumnavigation Advanced Coastal Training Cruise with Captain Jochen Hoffmann in August 2009

~

Dear Rita

I just wanted to give you some feedback on the course we completed on Celestial.

Captain Hoffmann is superb not only as an instructor of sailing and seamanship but as a teacher. Knowledge alone is not enough to bring strangers together on a small craft and shape them into a working and safety conscious crew. Captain Hoffmann achieved this essential task while clearly imparting the knowledge the crew expected to gain from this course. Not only did I learn about sailing and seamanship from Captain Hoffmann, but a wise way to develop crew spirit. I hope to sail with and learn from Captain Hoffmann in the future. It was fun and a pleasure to interact with Captain Hoffmann.

The organization of the Maryland School of Sailing and Seamanship is highly professional. Celestial was in great shape for this voyage. Your planning and guidance to the crew was excellent. Also, it seems you matched the crew members well. I feel I have made some long term friends and, hopefully, future sailing mates.

 Thank you
 Joe McArdle
