~ A Cut Above ~

Denise Mercier and Victor Diabo took an ASA101 course with us in October 2011 and sent the following comments:

Dear Rita,

Victor and I would like to tell you how much we learned and enjoyed our ASA 101 course.  We both never sailed before and our dream is to sell all our belonging and buy a sailboat to become "cruisers".  We have been going to the  Annapolis boat show for 3 years now, attending seminars and  reading about almost everything about sailing  we can put our hands on in order to achieve our dream.

We greatly appreciated our instructor Gary Hutson, he was excellent in making this course interesting and instructive, always took the time to explain in detail so we would understand for us " green " sailors... Victor got high marks in his exam.  For me, because I am French, the terminology language of sailing was a bit of a challenge  but if I would have had my books earlier and a little bit less nervous  I am sure, even though I passed,  I would have done much better.  Gary did his very best to help me understand. I am very grateful to him.  Now, when I have a moment, I review my books & notes.

We also appreciated the webinar on man overboard given by  Tom Tursi  we both found it very interesting and looking forward to the next one on medical in December. Victor and I we would like to pursue our dream and in a near future continue and take our 103,104 courses as soon as possible, overall we are very satisfied and learned a lot.

Thank you and a special mention to Gary, we greatly appreciated his knowledge and experience for us new sailors.

Victor Diabo and  Denise Mercier
