~ A Cut Above ~

Victor Ramos, who took our ASA101, 103 and Docking courses in 2021, sent the following note:

~

I want to take this moment to thank Frank Mummert and the Maryland School of Sailing for my overall experience. The first of the three courses I took over the course of two weeks stared out with Docking 118. I've never been on a sailboat let alone understood the physics of it all and the major role Mother Nature has on navigation.  I’m extremely thankful that I not only took the course but was also instructed by Captain Frank Mummert.  The instruction and guidance I received in two days will be forever embedded on my sailing life. Frank was very patient and extremely structured. Never did I imagine that I would feel as confident in moving and docking a 32 foot sailboat in only two days. THIS SCHOOL AND ITS FACULTY IS TOP NOTCH! In ASA 101 I was instructed to guide the class in for the day and was given the helm in docking the boat at the end the day. I managed in a way that would have made instructor Mummert proud!

The training plans provided by the school along with the ASA books were AMAZING!!! I learned so much reading and prepping the course material although I had ZERO sailing experience prior to receiving the training manuals. The MDS training plans are very detailed manuals! The IP32 were immaculate and well taken care of. Very clean and neat. They exceeded all my expectations!!

There’s nothing out there like what the Maryland School of Sailing is offering and able to provide with the staff on board. We experienced top quality instructions and experienced the live aboard life. My sailing life started with this program and these amazing instructors!
