~ A Cut Above ~

Al Motley

Captain Al Motley started sailing Hobie Cats and Sunfish class boats as a teenager in Florida where he also crewed aboard larger boats participating in local regattas at the Fort Walton Beach Yacht Club. He did a four year tour in the US Navy as an Operation Specialist learning navigation with deployments throughout the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Indian Ocean, and Pacific. After retiring from a 30 year career at NASA, Al returned to his passion of sailing. He holds a USCG 100 Ton Near Costal Master with sailing endorsement and has ASA Instructor Certifications for 101, 103, 104, 105, and 114.

Al and his wife Connie of 38 years live aboard their 45 foot Sailing Catamaran the Freckled Parrot which they have owned for five years. Together they cruise up and down the east coast between the Chesapeake Bay and the Virgin Islands spending time in the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and Puerto Rico. This past summer they returned from Tortolla BVI and currently enjoy exploring new anchorages in the lower Chesapeake Bay area.
